Staggered Start Dates: August 29th & August 30th
All Sturgeon Public Schools will continue with a staggered start to reduce student anxiety and improve communication of student conduct and school expectations. This is the second year that we will do this Division wide - for every school and every grade. The staggered start days will be Thursday, August 29 and Friday, August 30.

Limiting Distractions in Alberta Classrooms
To minimize distractions and protect student mental health and well-being, the Minister of Education, Demetrios Nicolaides, announced new restrictions on the use of personal mobile devices and access to social media platforms effective September 1, 2024. We thank you for working with us as a team to ensure students are fully focused on learning while in school and developing healthy social skills away from screens. Please watch for further communication on the specifics at your child’s school.
Student Transportation

Applications for Transportation Services for the 2024-2025 school year needed to be submitted by July 13, 2024 for transportation service on the first day of school. Applications submitted after this date will be processed as soon as possible, but may not be processed for the first day of school.
New bus passes for the 2024-2025 school year are required and will be distributed at the school after fees are paid. While not needed for the first day, a bus pass is mandatory for subsequent transportation services.
Bus Status App
Sturgeon Public Schools uses the Box Clever Bus Status App to give parents and caregivers a simple and accessible way to make sure they're notified of any changes in the status of their students' bus routes immediately. The app is available on the App Store for Apple devices and the Google Play Store for Android devices. iPhone users must be running iOS version 11.0 or later to use the app properly.
The Bus Status App allows you to keep track of any busing delays or cancellations, and receive push notifications for just the bus routes that matter to you.

Whether you are new to our division, have a child just starting their educational journey, or your child is a returning student, you can find all the information you need to complete the online registration/verification process on our Registration page. Online registration/verification is an annual process that must be completed for all students from Pre-K through Grade 12.
PowerSchool SIS Parent Portal
Stay connected with your child's education through the PowerSchool SIS Parent Portal! Here, you can easily monitor your child's progress, attendance, and pay fees. If you need help creating an account, resetting a forgotten password, or setting up student progress reports, please visit our How-To Directory for step-by-step instructions. Age Requirements
Pre-Kindergarten Program
Children born in 2020 with mild, moderate, or severe needs, or those who are cognitively advanced/gifted are eligible to qualify. Children born in 2021 with a significant need and are Program Unit Funded (PUF) are eligible to qualify.
