Student Registration
Current Students
IMPORTANT: Registration is available only through the PowerSchool SIS website. This feature is not available on the PowerSchool SIS mobile app.
It is not recommended to complete this form on a mobile device.
- Log in to your Parent Portal Account. Google Chrome and Firefox are the preferred browsers. Internet Explorer is not supported.
- Select your child by clicking their name in the blue banner at the top left hand side of the screen.
- From the left side menu, click on Registration Confirmation.
- Note: if you do not see this option, registration for the upcoming year has not yet begun.
- Confirm that the school name displayed at the top of the page is where you wish to register your child for the upcoming year. If this is not correct, call your child's current school to update.
SECTION 1: Student Demographics
- Review the information in these fields.
- Select either: Info is Correct or Changes Required.
- If any changes are required, fill in the new information in the single box provided. Be as descriptive as possible.
SECTION 2: Student Information
- Review the information in this section.
- Select either: Info is Correct or Changes Required.
- If changes are required, fill in the new information in the box provided.
- NOTE: To ensure we have the most relevant information for each student, we require parents/legal guardians to provide student medical information and family information annually.
SECTION 3: Contacts Information
The new Student Contacts process unifies contact information across the Division.
You now see the contact information attached to your child's PowerSchool SIS profile.
A. Parent/Legal Guardian Information
Note: If there are two parents or guardians, it is important to fill in both sections below, whether or not the parents or guardians are living together. A guardian is defined in section 20 of the Family Law Act, or a guardian appointed under Part 1, Division 5 and Part 5 of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act or section 23 of the Family Law Act. When selecting mother, father or legal guardian, you may be asked to provide legal documents to verify this relationship.

- Select either: Contacts Info is Correct or Contacts Changes Required.
- If changes are required: fill in the new information in the box provided.
Please Note: Mailing addresses are required for all parents/legal guardians. If a parent/legal guardian does not reside with the child, please provide their mailing address (if missing).

DIGITAL SIGNATURE AND CERTIFICATION
- Review all sections for accuracy.
- Check the box to certify that the information is complete and accurate.
- Enter your name in the signature field. This acts as a digital signature and is legally binding.
- When ready, click Submit My Response. Alternatively, there is a Cancel and Go Back button.
- If there are changes required after submission, please contact your child's current school to update.
PLEASE NOTE: After submitting your responses, you will see **Corrections Requested in every field, even if you did not make any corrections in that field. The fields with corrections will show your newly inputted information underneath.
A confirmation screen will appear.
To register additional students:
From the top left corner, select your next child and repeat the process until all children have been registered.
New Students to Sturgeon Public Schools
- Visit our Registration page by clicking here.
- Click on the appropriate registration form:
- Complete all required fields. Verify the information on the page carefully for each section prior to submitting.
- IMPORTANT NOTE: If you miss a required field, the form will not submit. Instead you will see the following message:
- Scroll to the top of the page to locate any missed fields. These will be highlighted in pink.
- Digital signature boxes that were entered will clear and must be entered again.
- When the form has successfully submitted to the Division, you will see this pop-up:
- Based on the information submitted in the Parent/Guardian section, school staff will contact you within 2-3 business days.
- For Transportation information, please visit the New Riders Registration page and fill out an Online Application form.

New or Current Students WITHOUT a Parent/Legal Guardian

Fees & Forms
Complete a Form via the PowerSchool SIS Parent Portal
IMPORTANT: Forms are available only through the PowerSchool SIS website. This feature is not available on the PowerSchool SIS mobile app.
- Log in to your Parent Portal Account. Firefox is the preferred browser. Internet Explorer is not supported.
- Select Student Fees and Forms.
- Select your child's name in the top banner.
- Scroll down to New Items and select the item that corresponds to the form you wish to complete, for example, Off-Site Activities Annual Consent Form:
- Fill out all required fields, then digitally sign your name in the signature field.
- Review the data you have entered and agreed to. If you consent, click Submit.
- A copy of the form will be emailed to you.
- When you are done, be sure to log out by clicking the Menu icon, and then clicking Sign Out.
If you have any questions or encounter any problems when completing forms, do not hesitate to contact your child's school.
Pay Fees via PowerSchool SIS - Full or Partial Payment
IMPORTANT: Fee payment is available only through the PowerSchool SIS website. This feature is not available on the PowerSchool SIS mobile app.
- Log in to your Parent Portal Account. Firefox is the preferred browser. Internet Explorer is not supported.
- Click on Student Fees and Forms. This will open a new window.
- You will see a list of all students linked to your parent portal account, and a summary of any outstanding fees.
- Clicking on a specific student will display fees that are Due Now, any Future Charges, and a list of your previously paid fees for that student.
- Click to add the fees you wish to pay to your account.
- When ready, click on the cart icon to proceed with payment.
- A partial payment option is always available. To do this, click on Partial Payment to adjust the amount you wish to pay today.
- To adjust the amount you wish to pay, click into the green total box, and enter the desired amount. If you have fees at multiple schools, you will edit each school's total individually.
- Click Return to Checkout to proceed with payment.
- When you are done, be sure to log out by clicking the Menu icon, and then clicking Sign Out.
NOTE: This does not schedule future payments. You will need to log in and process a payment each time you wish to do so.
Set up a Monthly Payment Plan for Transportation Fees
IMPORTANT: Fee payment is available only through the PowerSchool SIS website. This feature is not available on the PowerSchool SIS mobile app.
- Log in to your Parent Portal Account from a web browser. Firefox is the preferred browser. Internet Explorer is not supported.
- Select Student Fees and Forms. This will open a new window.
- Select your child's name in the top banner.
- Click the In Cart checkbox to add the transportation fees to your cart. If you have multiple children with transportation fees owing, you will need to click on each name in the banner and add each child's fees to the cart.
- When ready, click the cart icon in the top right corner to proceed with payment.
- From the cart page, click on the Payment Plan button to schedule monthly payments.
- NOTE: To create a payment plan, you must have a saved payment method on file. Click Manage Saved Cards to add or edit your payment information.
- A payment plan of 10 equal payments will be auto-selected. (This is pro-rated if you have joined partway through the year.)
- A breakdown of the monthly payment amount and the date of withdrawal will be displayed. To agree to the terms and complete setup, click Create Plan.
- Your payment plan is now created! Plan items will be automatically charged to your saved method of payment when due.
- When you are done, be sure to log out by clicking the Menu icon, and then clicking Sign Out.

Student Contacts
What is Student Contacts?
Student Contacts is an update to PowerSchool SIS that allows for greater flexibility in the type and amount of Parent/Guardians and Emergency Contacts that are connected to your child(ren). It will also unify your contact information across all of your children in the Division.
What will change for me?
Your information will now be unified across all schools in the Division that you are connected to (as a parent/guardian or emergency contact). Instead of having data entered at each school, you will have one set of contact information. Schools will be able to connect your information to your child(ren) at each school, whether you are a Parent, Guardian or Emergency Contact.
Why is this change happening?
There are many benefits of consolidating and updating student contact data:
- Data accuracy is important to ensure we can reach the correct person
- Additional relationship types
Parent Portal
Create a PowerSchool SIS Parent Portal Account
- Log in to PowerSchool SIS from any Sturgeon School Division website by clicking the icon found in the top right hand corner.
- Select Parents, and then Log in to PowerSchool.
- Alternatively, you can type the following into your web browser: sps.powerschool.com
- Select the Create an Account tab and then click Create Account.
- Enter your information:
- Enter your child's information, and repeat for as many students as you have:
NOTE: To link students to your account, you must have the Access ID and Access Password for that child. This information is provided by your child’s school. If you do not have this, please contact the school directly.
- When you have entered information for all students you wish to add, click Enter.
- Check your email for a link to verify your account.
- Click the link within the email to validate your account, and then sign in with the credentials you just created.
You now have access to your PowerSchool SIS Parent Portal!
If you have any further questions, your child's school will be happy to assist you further.
Reset a Forgotten Password or Username
- From a web browser, click the Forgot Username or Password link on the PowerSchool SIS login page.
- Fill in the information requested. The username and email address you enter must match the information associated with your account.
- If you are unsure of the username, click on the Forgot Username tab and enter the email address associated with the account.
- If you are unsure of the email address associated with the account, please contact your child's school for assistance.
- Once you enter both the username and email associated with your account, you will receive an email with a link to reset your password. You should receive the email within a 5 minute window.
- NOTE: If you do not receive an email, please check your junk mail folder.
If you still do not receive an email, please contact your child's school. A member of the school office will be happy to assist you further.
Create Your Own Student Progress Report
Did you know that you can create your own student progress report that will be emailed directly to you from PowerSchool SIS?
From within your PowerSchool SIS Parent Account, navigate to the EMAIL NOTIFICATION Icon.
On this page, you can select the type and frequency of notifications.
Contact Information:
- Account Email: This is the email that was used to create your account. Should you wish to change this email, visit the Account Preferences page.
What Information Would You Like to Receive?
- Summary of Current Grades and Attendance: This will provide a quick overview of current overall marks and absence totals.
- Detail Report Showing Assignment Scores for Each Class: This will send one email per class with the current overall grade as well as each assignment grade. Note that assignments are often weighted differently, so the overall grade may not equal the average of all assignment marks.
- Detail Report of Attendance: This will list all dates with attendance codes, and include a total number of absences.
- School Announcements: This will send a copy of the PowerSchool SIS Daily Bulletin that is provided to students. Not all schools utilize this feature.
- Balance Alert (Note: Will only be sent when student is low on funds): This function is not used within Sturgeon Public School Division.
Additional Notification Emails:
- Email Addresses: If you would like a copy of these email notifications sent to additional email addresses, you may enter them here. Multiple email addresses should be separated with commas.
Frequency:
- How Often? Select from Weekly, Every Two Weeks, Monthly, or Daily. Selecting Never will stop all email notifications, even if they are selected above.
- Apply These Settings to All Your Students? Checking this box will update all children on your account to receive the same Notifications and Frequency
- Send now for Student? Select this box to immediately receive the notifications you have selected.
